Dreja Novak was born in Slovenia. From her early childhood she was fascinated by fine art and painting. A strong interest eventually took her to Accademia Italiana in Florence (Italy), where she studied interior design and decoration. After graduation at Accademia Italiana she continued her fine art studies at the private school of Joze Ciuha, where she perfected her skills under his guidance.
During a decade of travelling and living abroad she developed and created a style named Nouveau Deco that further divides into Nature NeoDeco and Geometric NeoDeco. Besides a unique opus "Pebble Mosaics" is made out of pure stones.
(C) Copyright 2008 Dreja Novak, All Rights Reserved She is a painter who delivers decorativeness in form and colours, expressed in conjunction with elementary symbolism in drawing. She has always been inspired by Gustav Klimt, who was also a decorator and a painter. Dreja Novak places powerful emphasis on colours, beauty and emotions in her works, which can be especially seen in the eyes of portraits or fictitious personalities. She steps to a canvas with a desire to make a beautiful painting based on given idea, philosophy or simple story, with no interest in competing with contemporaries, preferring instead to set her own goals. Her style is to bring classical drawing, as are portraits, and selected aspects of modern art to produce fantastic space and magical story into Nuveau Deco. Dreja's works can be found in private collections all over the world from New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, Croatia and other. To Dreja, painting is like a journey which shifts her into a creative world of stories and every new location and culture change brings new knowledge and ideas. Her deep passion for painting is rewarded by many happy people owning her works.
